Modules

photo of childrenWelcome to the Maryland Mighty Tooth School-Based Dental Sealant Training Program, a series of modules designed to ensure that school-based dental sealant program staff in Maryland have a thorough understanding of the history, operations, and underlying principles of school-based programs.

The modules provide detailed guidelines for infection control in school-based programs; discuss tooth selection and assessment for dental sealants; review the sealant-application process; and provide information about program operations, with an emphasis on the specific requirements that apply to programs funded by the Maryland Department of Health, Office of Oral Health (OOH).

After completing the curriculum, please take a moment to fill out the evaluation. Your feedback will help improve the curriculum.

Self-Assessment Quizzes: Oral health professionals who successfully complete all module self-assessment quizzes are eligible to receive two continuing education (CE) credits through the Maryland Department of Health, OOH, with approval from the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. See details for printing the certificate and applying for CE. Self-Assessment Quizzes are located at the end of each Module, there is no charge for CE credits.

Course Development: This curriculum is adapted from School-Based Dental Sealant Programs, produced by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center and the Ohio Department of Health, Oral Health Section.
